The Cookbook!

To all those reading this blog -

The survey has long been completed and the results are in. They will all be released at a later time via print screen, where you will be able to see the actual graphs themselves. Also, I have been working on the cookbook for the last week or so. It is being produced through the bookmaking software "BLURB" and it will contain 20 pages. It will be a smaller sized cookbook that will be easy enough to carry around with those who want to have recipes on the go. Small, efficient and packed with info and deliciousness. After the book is completed it will take up to 7 days for it to arrive on my doorstep, and at that point I will publish the book and make it available for sale online to any of you who would like to purchase a copy for yourselves. Stay tuned!

Running out of time

Hi to all those who have been reading this blog in the last few months -- tomorrow marks the completion of the written component of this Keystone Project, a 5 page paper on what College Kids eat, what they think of the meal system on campus, and what they want to do differently and how it affects them. It has been an interesting research period and I look forward to sharing my findings with you via this blog and on my Keystone Presentation day.

P.S.  After talking it over with Jeremy Cole, he has granted access to use a room at JCHS for a cooking demo in the next coming week or so. I will send out an email to the student body and faculty for a select group of 20 who would like to attend this interesting and delicious presentation.

Look forward to seeing you there,
                                                      Jonathan

The results are in! Well partially...

Over the last few weeks I have closely monitored the results of the survey day by day. They prove my points perfectly and coincide with what my original idea of my paper was going to be - that the majority of people do not believe that it is possible to cook in a dorm setting YET want to save money. Hows that work? Hmm... Over 80% of 70 survey takers responded that it is not possible to cook in a dorm. How about that?

Peeking in

As I posted the survey just a few days ago, I have been looking at the results as they increase slowly. Some of these statistics are proving exactly what my thoughts and suspicions were originally, which motivated me to pursue this keystone. In the next few weeks I will post the final results, and what each of the surveyors answered.

Quick stat - 60% of 20 surveyors consider themselves to have some sort of cooking knowledge or expertise.

Finally!

Finally, Survey Monkey decides to cooperate with me. I am finalizing my last few changes to the survey and the link will shortly be posted on my blog. The Survey is geared toward those who are either going to be entering college, or are currently enrolled/ have graduated. Thanks, Survey Monkey.

Post finals, Second Semester

With finals over, and second semester back in full swing, so is the pressure on us as seniors for Keystone and Senior Thesis. Work production has been sluggish thus far, but in the next few weeks will come the majority of my Keystone work. The up and running survey, because I have given up on Survey Monkey after two failed survey attempts, along with the essay and plans for the cooking lessons will be out within the next few weeks. This is more of a check in, to update those interested on my general project status and progress. Lets just say that prior to the preparation for finals and during finals week, my Keystone urge was that of a car without any gas. However, with time flying by and deadlines pushing, the fuel to my energy will also be through the roof. Stay tuned for many more posts in the shortcoming.

Waiting on returns

Just before we all set out to embrace winter break and load up on presents, Starbucks holiday drinks, sickening egg nog and the like, I put together a survey to better help me get a grasp for what college students really want to eat, and why they do it. So, with the survey being completed and sent out at that time, I expected the results to come flowing back to me. Sadly, I did a grand check in on the statistics and wallah, nothing was there. This wasn't because no one had the short minute to take the survey, but rather because apparently the survey wasn't complete according to Survey Monkey. Isn't that the relief you expect after a long and restful break? It sure is. So here comes round two, the survey is to be re-done and published once more. Ill be back with a blog post with the link once its all wrapped up and done. V.2, here I come.
